Christina Simokat has built her career at the intersection of science and community, turning research into real-world impact through education, collaboration, and innovative problem-solving. An adjunct professor at CSUSM and a founding faculty member of the Environmental Studies Program, she has mentored dozens of undergraduate researchers and developed hands-on, experiential learning approaches that connect students to real-world environmental challenges. Beyond academia, Christina’s work spans ecological research, curriculum design, and community engagement with nonprofits, government agencies, and local organizations.
She currently leads the San Diego Pollinator Monitoring Program, collaborating with conservation groups to protect the region’s vital pollinators. Her team’s work, which leverages emerging technologies like acoustic and video monitoring, has been presented at national conferences and published in scientific journals.
